The Battle for Chrysalia

Content patch to add new region to Runes of Magic

Berlin, 25th September 2012:  Publisher Gameforge has today thrown open the gates to a new region for Runes of Magic players, Chrysalia. The region was shaped by the power of the four elements and is home to a new raid instance, the Kulech Bones Nest. In this challenging dungeon, groups of up to twelve players can enter into battle against belligerent ant creatures, gruesome maggots and an evil ant queen. The latest episode of the RoMcast is also out today and shows scenes from the region, giving a closer insight into the new content.

Chrysalia lies in the north of the Taborean continent, a region carved by deep canyons that can only be traversed using the rickety bridges swaying above the drops. The region is inhabited by two ant-like races, the Garon and the Kulech. The Garon are peaceable sorts and friendly to adventurers; the Kulech however, are to be feared and only approached if you are well equipped and prepared for a savage battle. The path to the Bones Nest instance will lead players by the serene Sanctuary of Balance, past mysterious investigation camps and production plants, through to the bloody battlefield. This is where the best of the best come to take on the Ant Queen and her hordes of minions.

Mysterious Land of the Elements  Flythrough video unveils new Runes of Magic region

Berlin, 20th of September 2012: A new threat is stirring to the east of Taborea. Gameforge is expanding the online world of Runes of Magic with a completely new region, Chrysalia, in the coming week. Thundering waterfalls, bubbling pools of lava, and huge ant-built structures will greet new adventurers, replete with never before seen foes, plenty of new quests and a highly demanding instance. This ancient land and native home to the true dragons is currently being plagued by the Kulech, a clan of exceedingly aggressive ant creatures. The new flythrough video will give a first impression of the imposing landscape which adventurers can explore starting as of the 25th of September.

Chrysalia lies on the coast of the continent of Kolydia. The tempestuous storms across the ocean make their presence known in the coves of the region as a dusty and driving wind, shaking the bridges constructed by the allies to connect the disparate cave systems. The force of the four elements has shaped the land since time immemorial, and has created a host of perilous anomalies. This region is inhabited by two different types of ant-like Myrmex. The Garon are the more peaceable of the two races and, in a nod to symbiotic development, their counterparts the Kulech are belligerent and hostile.

On the itinerary for budding adventurers are also the more secluded corners of Chrysalia, such as the Edliss Ruins to the south, the Bloody Battlefield and the Kulech Bones Nest – the new instance. Fierce battle awaits against the Queen of the Myrmex, which will mark out the true heroes from the rest.

The Scorched Earth of Rorazan
Challenging new high-level content coming soon to Runes of Magic

Berlin, 1 June 2012: In less than two weeks, on 12 June, the successful MMORPG Runes of Magic will be expanded with its fifth chapter, Fires of Shadowforge, and the doors will be opened to a surreal and hostile land utterly desolated by firestorms. In the Ancient Kingdom of Rorazan, mechanical golems and spirits go about their dastardly business and players will also find the new high-level instance, the Aeternal Circle, in which four powerful rune guardians challenge the courageous to gruelling battles.

Mechanical beings roam the scorched lands                      Only a few small areas remain lush and green

The Ancient Kingdom of Rorazan is situated in the west of the new continent of Kolydia. For generations, the inhabitants here lived in peace with one another. However, when underlings of the demon mage Maderoth released an elemental being, the King of the Fires, from his centuries-long imprisonment, a violent explosion erupted. The resulting blaze reduced vast expanses to nothing more than wasteland. The only remaining inhabitants are the spirits, mechanical beings and fire elementals capable of surviving this blasted terrain.

Four rune guardians await

In the north of Rorazan, players will find the entrance to the new high-level instance, the Aeternal Circle, available in two different levels of difficulty. Four powerful rune golems have fortified themselves here, and after each boss battle, a riddle will have to be solved before players can teleport into the next area. In the final battle, players will pit themselves with sword, shield and spell against the über-powerful Da‘dalodin.

Taffrock, the subterranean kingdom of the Dwarves, was created long before the Great Banishment and the historic battle between the demons and the peoples of Taborea. However, through a failed experiment, the Dwarves fell in to an prolonged slumber and slipped away into oblivion. Yet when the royal scouts discovered them, they were awakened to new life, and the grandeur of their once forgotten kingdom unfolded once again. The magnitude of their architecture pays tribute to their ingenuity and craftsmanship, and allows Dwarves to explore five main zones: the central Administration District, the Crafting District in the east, the Arena Quarter in the north, the Trade Quarter in the west, and the Mining District in the south.

In the Outskirts of Taffrock, players find the entrance to the new beginner instance, where they face off against the final boss, Dark Gargoylem. He and his horde of aggressive spirits have entrenched themselves in the lower levels of the old Dwarven halls, and will be the first challenge that players of the new Dwarven race will pit themselves against.

Modern Technology or Dark Magic?   Frogster provides details on the two new classes in Runes of Magic

Berlin, 15 May 2012: Only a few weeks remain until the anxiously anticipated release of Fires of Shadowforge, the fifth chapter of the Fantasy MMORPG Runes of Magic. Now, Frogster is providing details on the two new classes, the Champion and the Warlock, and their special abilities.

Like the Warlock, the Champion class will only be available to the Dwarves. One of the unique abilities of this class is its capacity to transform into a Runic Robot. This form allows for additional devastating magic and attacks that are particularly useful in melee combat, making the Champion very effective at soaking up damage.

With access to the Dwarves’ ancient blacksmithing skills, the Champion has the potential to create and equip powerful weapons and armour. Armaments embedded with runes offer nearly impenetrable protection without forfeiting mobility. Long familiarity with the forge hammer has made the Champion’s hands into efficient instruments of creation and destruction. This barbaric combination of strength and swiftness fortifies their reputation as steel demons of the battlefield, and makes a Champion the ideal tank and attack class. Their broad variety of in-game capabilities will be a pleasure for veteran gamers.

In contrast, the Warlock’s fighting style is characterised by long-range attacks and sapping enemy strength. Through exhaustive experimentation with the dark magic of the Shadowforge Dwarves, this class has developed techniques for harnessing spiritual energy in order to become powerful spellcasters. With this mystical power, Warlocks are capable of both tearing enemies to pieces and helping allies in need. In direct combat, the Warlock can thus be played as a support class or an additional damage dealer.

Berlin, 23rd of March 2012:

Frogster will be releasing the fifth chapter to the online role-playing game Runes of Magic in June, entitled Fires of Shadowforge. The expansion will bring new zones complete with dungeons as well as a brand new playable dwarf race, offering players a choice between two original new arcane classes –Sorcerer and Champion.

Chapter V: Fires of Shadowforge sees the reappearance of a race of Dwarves that has lain hidden beneath the ground of Taborea – Shadowforge Dwarves. Bearing, curious tattoos for distinction, the Shadowforge Dwarves are close relatives of the Fireboot Dwarves and share their unique ability to manipulate dark elements to improve their mastery of blacksmithing. The years spent underground out of reach of the sun, coupled with their ardent experimentation with the dark elements, have drastically altered their appearance, making their skin pale and their eyes the fieriest among their kin.

Fight the Past, To Save the Future   New Zone and High-Level Instance in Runes of Magic

Earlier today, publisher Frogster released the new Runes of Magic content update, Patch 4.0.5 – Souls of the Past. The update opens the gate to a new raid dungeon, the Tomb of the Seven Heroes, which challenges groups of up to twelve players to a heated battle with seven menacing bosses. Also released today, the latest RoM-Cast episode shows these formidable foes locked in combat with a group of well equipped players, showing off the new level cap of 70.

A Little Lore

The once mighty heroes of Taborea are in dire need of help. Players are already familiar with the history of these noble heroes, which began in The Elder Kingdoms, and now they actually have the chance to face them in harrowing combat. The legendary heroes proved their battle prowess in coming to the aid of King Kalume during the Great Banishment of the demons. Alas, their souls and swords are now under the control of the demon Sismond, who is using them as undead bodyguards. Players are called upon to defeat the entranced heroes and release them from Sismond’s evil spell.

New Endgame Content

Frogster is also serving up expanded endgame content with the new zone, Tergothen Bay. Here, players will come across the contested Kingdom of Lechif, where the ruling Kanches family are constantly at war with one another, leaving their subjects to fend for themselves against invading thieves and plunderers.

“Souls of the Past will not only draw Runes of Magic fans across the globe deeper into the Taborean saga, but it also offers weeks of gaming fun with a fantastic new zone and an exciting instance”, said Producer of Runes of Magic, Mandy Blumenthal, adding, “This patch also paves the way to Chapter 5, which we are all very much looking forward to.”
