Octopus Tree  Gabriel Interactive present ROBOT ARENA III

The first version of Robot Arena was based on the television programme Robot Wars that originated on BBC2 around 1998 and has been on and off various channels and in a multitude of countries ever since. ROBOT ARENA III takes everything that RA I and RA II and all preceding games and television series had and enhances, updates and augments every nuance, trick, trap and robot. The modes for playing are Exhibition (play a single game against chosen opposition), Online (speaks for itself) and Career (a series of Tournaments).

Because of all the possibilities available through the wonders of modern computers the robots and arenas are bigger, brighter, more interesting, colourful, tougher and can do a whole lot more and different attacks; far more than the actual, real robots. I am not sure what is best or rather I should say more satisfying. Building a robot in your home garage and setting it off to scramble the mother-boarding-brains of someone else's home built pet must be amazing, but also using the power of the computer to create a visual mechanical masterpiece is also amazing.

Having created your robot you can share it through the Steam Workshop, you can adjust the controls, play against others and against a very intelligent Artificial Intelligence as well as fine tuning you robot to your satisfaction. There are numerous features that you can discover such as: Googly Eyes, Angry Eye Left, Angry Eye Right, Mega Battery, Large Cookie Wheel, Small Cookie Wheel, Cardboard Wheel, Gold Mace and a Cookie Chassis with an unbelievable texture.

It's not often that I find it hard to write a fair amount about a game but ROBOT ARENA III basically says it all. It's a game about Robots battling and therefore it's a game about players creating robots that are good enought to survive pits and falls, fire and bullets and, of course, explosions.

Keep playing, keep fighting and the more you keep winning the better you can upgrade. There isn't a great deal of substance or longevity in this type of game but while you are playing, building and advancing it is satisfying and fun.
