Nordic Games puts players on the front line with this Military DLC

The latest addition to the hugely popular demon-slaying shooter sees Daniel Garner forced into the hellish world of the Military. Currently available on STEAM and soon to be on the XBox360 and PS3 Painkiller Hell and Damnation is a revision
of the original "Painkiller" 2004/5 release from Nordic Games.

The hero, Daniel Garner is still questing to see, hopefully revive, his dead wife Catherine. He has already defeated the
forces of Purgatory and Hell but failed to find Catherine. DEATH arrives to Daniel and offers him the chance to see
Catherine again, all he need do is catch and return 7000 souls. To do this he is given the Soulcatcher, a futuristic
gun type weapon that collects the soul essence after destroying the demonic hordes.

During his battles he meets up with Eve, the "ally" who had her own agenda in the previous game and thus betrayed
Daniel because it suited her needs. Here though she is trying to help him but of course he doesn't trust her. However
he soon discovers that she is not the traitor he believed her to be, or at least he allows his mind to change about her
and her warnings suddenly ring true as he realises that it should be DEATH he distrusts. When he finds that the 7000th
Soul belongs to Eve he has a dilemma because although DEATH has promised him the return of Catherine, Daniel is not
of the belief that he should kill Eve for her soul.

Of course DEATH has a purpose for requiring 7000 souls, he needs them to reunite War, Pestilence and Hunger so that
the famed Apocalyptic Horsemen may ride together again. Needless to say daniel has to stop this. It was needless to say
but I said it anyway just in case you hadn't realised what was coming.

So we have an all action game that you can play on your own or with/against friends. The sounds and graphics are what you
would expect from this kind of fantasy genre, beautiful in their own way. There are many options for you to select from and
these include the game's Difficulty, finding Holy Items, finding (and using where necessary) Ammunition, Objects and Secrets.
Plus there are onscreen tallys fpr various items such as souls collected, gold discovered and monsters killed. Of course there is
also a marvellous array of Armour and weapons (some old favourites others new and exclusive) to be found and used. Status is
determined by the unlocking of cards.

The gameplay requires you to begin and finish each chapter before moving on to the next. Every level sets you in a new location
which are mainly classic horror places such as dusty castles, graveyards and the like.

The combat is fast and tricky in places, direct and cunning at other times. There is thought required but not as much as in say a Sherlock Holmes game. The violence is mindful rather than mindless. but there is still the chaotic mayhem one would expect when facing hordes of distinctly dangerous blood thirsty minions, their masters and their masters.....

What else can I say ? It is powered by the superb Unreal 3 engine and thus anyone who has played any Unreal or similar game
will know just what is in store for them. Of course the visual aspects of the game are far better than almost (if not all) every other
Unreal style game currently available. So if you enjoy the shooter style all-action combat game then look no further for you have here discovered the elite in that genre.
