NARUTO is not something that I had previously heard about and so I can only speak as I find. The game is pretty much general animé as I have seen the children and grandchildren watch regularly on television with exceptions that the female characters are usually dressed in more than a few wisps of cloth, characters aren't up and in your face and they don't have tiny noses and huge eyes; nor are they in the Power Ranger mould.

You begin with a single character but very quickly begin to add friends to your merry band while you follow the leads of missions, quests and sub-missions. Nearly every move ends with you meeting someone or something in an open street, a jungle clearing or some other similar place where you can face-off; you and your people to the left of the screen and the adversaries to the right. Before combat begins you have time to rearrange your group to have whoever you want in the centre and on the flanks - it sometimes helps to put yourself to one end so that you are facing the opponent you fancy fighting. Then the battle begins and it is pretty much a regular affair. Opponents from either side move forward in full 2D mode towards the facing opponent and hit or miss with various sound effects and visual effects displayed excitedly across the arena. This continues until one side has been completely defeated - each character that is defeated disappears automatically from the field. Back to the mission giver, grab the rewards, re-equip as necessary and then on to the next encounter.

As a free to play game it is great value, fun, uncomplicated, colourful, vocally enjoyable and visually exciting. I found nothing new that I hadn't come up against before, mechanically, but then I didn't find anything I didn't like either, so it's status quo! You could thus say "it rocks!"
