If you want to know the why's and wherefores of RELICTA - things you used to get with physical games but are no longer applicable with code downloads  - Google it. That may sound a bit sharp, but in all honesty the reasons why you're on the moon and solving puzzles of the scientific, logic and physics type, are just background noise; the main fun throughout this game is the relentless brainstorming of the player versus the intelligence of the program.

You mostly see the complete picture in first person view, using your hands to lift and move exquisite unique locking and unlocking devices (there must be a quicker way to say that ... hmmm 'keys' that's it). At first it is obvious what you have to do but then things begin to get complicated and then more complex.

These keys mainly lock and unlock electronic barriers. These are somewhat weird gates because at times you can walk right through them as long as you aren't carrying a key, and other gates require the keys to be in position and aligned so they dissipate leaving just a gap.

There are several tricks you can try to get a lock opened but going through them here would make this more of a walkthrough than a review and I am sure you can find a walkthrough online if you need it - this then defeats the whole purpose of the puzzles. The satisfaction felt when you solve a particularly awkward puzzle without resorting to looking online is truly gratifying.

Once you power up your gloves to control negative and positive energy (visualised in colours) then the merriment goes up more than just one notch.

Visually; this is a beautiful game.

Challenging; this is a superb conglomerate of clever puzzles.

Playability; it may be one of the most enjoyable games you play this year.
