65K pledged for Dwar7s Fall Collector's edition and Troll's Bridge expansion
Halifax, Canada – Canadian game development studio, Vesuvius Media, announced the Collector's Edition of its board game Dwar7s Fall surpassed its crowdfunding goal by 518%, raising $64,841 USD during a 3-week Kickstarter campaign.
Designed and illustrated by Luis Brueh, Dwar7s Fall is a worker placement and hand management board game where players take on the role of Dwarf King and prepare their kingdom for the long and terrible winter. Players collect gems, build castles, stock food and defend against ogres, dragons and more. Dwar7s Fall is for 2 to 7 players, ages 13+, and plays in 45 to 60 minutes. The rule book is available in over 10 languages and players can easily learn to play by watching The Card Board Stacker's 7-minute How to Play video.
“I moved to Canada from Brazil,” said Brueh. “Dwar7s Fall was inspired by the beauty of fall in Halifax and my realization that there was a very cold winter ahead! I thought, how do people survive this? We need to stock up on food, we need to prepare ourselves, and so, I started to draw and design.”
Released in 2016, the original Dwar7s Fall game has expansions such as Royal Decrees and Empires, which adds new elements and up to 7 players to the game. The Dwar7s Fall Collector's edition includes the brand new Troll's Bridge expansion for up to 8 players, pre-painted meeples and even more content (11 stretch goals!) unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign.
“If you thought Dwar7s Fall got competitive with ogre cards and the Royal Decrees, wait until you throw a moody troll into the mix,” said Konstantinos Manos, CEO of Vesuvius Media. “Anyone can play our Dwar7s games, there's no text on the cards and they're fun, with super cute illustrations; BUT, depending on how you play and who you play with, they can get aggressive!”
In 2017, Dwar7s Fall won Premio Ludopedia's Best Family Game (Jury Prize) and Best Family Game (People's Choice). It also won Brazilian Game of the Year 2017 by Meeple Maniacs – Lucas Andrade, and The Golden Dragon Award 2017 by Covil Dos Jogos.
Dwar7s Winter, the second game in the Dwar7s series, successfully funded on Kickstarter in January and nearly sold out at the board game conventions Gen Con, Spiel, and Hal-Con. Dwar7s Spring and Dwar7s Summer are currently in development.
“Our team was at Hal-Con and Spiel Essen during the final days of our Kickstarter campaign, talking and playing with the so many people,” said Brueh. “It was absolutely amazing. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful community of players here in Halifax and across the globe.”
Although the Kickstarter campaign is closed, a limited number of late pledges for the game are available in the Vesuvius Media Web Shop.
